The Blood
On 8/1/2021 at 1:43 AM, Rodja said: 1.Yang will try again for NYT endorsement as last meeting wasn't that bad, attempting to sway them to settle for him as their candidate. 2.Yang emphasizes his background as a political outsider who will bring change in NYC politics and solve issues professional politicians failed to for decades at a rally in Bronx. 3.Yang releases series of online ads featuring people telling their life stories and how Yang's UBI would make life easier for them. NYTs: 1/10! Yang comes off far too blunt, unprepared, and uninitiated into city politics for the editorial board's liking, and doesn't hear back from them. Meanwhile, coverage of Yang's campaign takes a more negative tone from the newspaper following the meeting. Bronx: 7/10. This plays to a diverse crowd of young progressives and working-class voters, and overall goes well for Yang. Ad: 3/10. The ads come off as overly-dramatic to many, and as exploitative of people's struggles to others. Overall: -5. Yang suffers a major blow by losing out on the New York Times, and fails to make up for it on the trail. On 8/1/2021 at 8:51 AM, Sean F Kennedy said: 1. Donovan decides to test the waters and go for the NYT endorsement citing his support from both Schumer and Sanders and his experience in the Obama administration. 2. Donovan will seek the support of former Vice President Al Gore hoping to get some environmentalist support. 3. Donovan will campaign in Harlem going to local soul food restaurants building up support among the African American community. NYTs: 2/10. The Times simply isn't impressed by Donovan and question him heavily on housing in the city, a topic he flubs on. Al Gore: 2/10. Gore is neither expecting to pick a side in the race or back Donovan, and he simply doesn't find the Donovan campaign to be something he wishes to tie himself to. Harlem: 7/10. Donovan has some surprising success hitting Harlem and meeting with the small restaurant owners in the area. Overall: -4. Donovan fails to grab two major endorsements and only slightly recovers while campaigning. On 8/1/2021 at 10:37 AM, Timur said: 1.Eric Adams will campaign in The Bronx. 2.Eric Adams will campaign in Queens. 3.Eric Adams will campaign in Manhatten. Bronx: 9/10. Adams is met with a receptive and large audience, hearing his life story and plans to help the city. Queens: 8/10. Once again Adams meets the busy streets to find a receptive audience, touring the borough with ease and confidence. Manhattan: 4/10. Adams' streak finally ends in Manhattan, where the crowds are small and slightly unreceptive to his law-and-order message. Overall: +6. Adams has some strong success on the trail as he connects to voters. On 8/2/2021 at 12:33 PM, Zenobiyl said: 1. Mateo tries to obtain the NYT endorsement, claiming that the organization has rejected all the socialists and globalists so clearly there is only one superior option left! 2. Mateo puts up signs, billboards, and bumper stickers with the words “Mateo: Trump Approved” on them. Although technically never endorsed Trump would obviously prefer Mateo to Sliwa, so theres no need to ask permission first. 3. Mateo claims to have a copy of the Hunter Biden laptop files, in the hopes of getting prime time on Fox News. NYTs: 10/10! They will not endorse, obviously, but they are impressed by the confidence and zeal of Mateo, running a cover story looking into his campaign. Trump Ads: 9/10. Well, it motivates Mateo's supporters, draws conservatives to his campaign, and doesn't end in a lawsuit, so overall the marketing campaign does pretty well. Hunter Biden: 2/10. Well, Fox, in a surprising show of journalistic integrity, asks to see the files first. Let's just say Mateo does not get a segment. Overall: +6. Despite a hiccup with Fox, Mateo gathers strength as his campaign gets media exposure and even more solidified MAGA support. On 8/2/2021 at 2:09 PM, WVProgressive said: Sliwa talks with immigrant community leaders in the Bronx Sliwa hosts an interfaith brunch in Queens Sliwa talks about UBI in Manhattan Bronx: 2/10. Sliwa comes off as unsympathetic and non-understanding of the struggle of immigrants in the city, and tells an offensive joke which doesn't land. Queens: 8/10. The brunch goes well, and paints Sliwa as a uniting figure regardless of faith. Manhattan: 5/10. Some people like the message, others don't, it evens out. Overall: 0. Sliwa ends up stuck in neutral this turn. On 8/2/2021 at 3:45 PM, Hestia said: 1. Garcia campaigns in Brooklyn about experience and finding the right mayor. 2. Garcia approaches the NYT one last time to plead for an endorsement. Maybe they like the power trip? 3. Garcia campaigns in the Bronx once. Brooklyn: 2/10. Garcia flops on policy specifics when pressed on them by attending reporters, poking a hole in her message. NYTs: 5/10. On one hand, they love Garcia's confidence. On the other, they loathe Garcia and would not be saddened if she died. It ends up breaking even. Bronx: 9/10. Well, she only hits the Bronx once, but she's met with large crowds and responsive voters. Overall: +1. It isn't much, but Garcia does some honest work, barely breaking into the positives. On 8/2/2021 at 6:31 PM, Cal said: 1. Maya Wiley will campaign in Brooklyn. 2. Wiley will try to right her wrongs from the campaign ad last month and release a much more fact checked version. 3. Wiley will bring more attention to Yangs inactivity in NYC politics. Brooklyn: 5/10. Nothing goes especially wrong, nothing goes especially right for Wiley. Ad: 1/10! Not only does this new version have more inaccuracies, but Wiley utters the phrase, "I have helped over 1 Billion New Yorkers." during the ad, going viral. Yang: 7/10. The attack lands with those looking for an experienced and engaged Mayor. Overall: -3. Wiley stays in the negatives as her campaign is now known for inaccurate advertising. On 8/3/2021 at 4:21 PM, Cenzonico said: PLP campaigns in the Bronx x2 PLP will jump on the Scramble for NYT and ask once again for its endorsement. Bronx: 10/20(6,4). Paperboy has an extremely average time in the Bronx. NYTs: 2/10. The editorial board elects to simply begin ignoring Paperboy. Overall: -3. Not the best turn for the aspiring Mayor. On 8/3/2021 at 4:30 PM, Rezi said: Stringer will playfully harass Kirsten Gillibrand for her endorsement. Stringer meets with a group that wants to rename New York City to “New Amsterdam” to learn about their cause. Stringer rallies in Manhattan Gillibrand: 3/10. Gillibrand does not take kindly to Stringer's off-putting and non-stop attempts to grab an endorsement. New Amsterdam: 8/10. Well, it grabs headlines and makes Stringer trend in the Netherlands, so overall a win. Manhattan: 7/10. The rally is well attended and Stringer gives a strong performance on stage. Overall: +3. A solid turn for Stringer. 6 hours ago, Dobs said: McGuire campaigns in the Bronx against De Blasio McGuire hits Brooklyn with Simcha McGuire tries for the endorsement of David Dinkins, the first black mayor of New York and fellow law and order politician. de Blasio: 1/10! McGuire's attacks come off as weak and divisive, and de Blasio begins making calls to allies to gather them against McGuire's bid. Brooklyn: 9/10. McGuire provides strength in Brooklyn, gathering support among moderates and the Orthodox Jewish community with Simcha. Dinkins: 3/10. Dinkins will not endorse at this time, doubting McGuire's chances. Overall: -3. McGuire suffers a number of blows, preventing a disaster of a turn with strength in Brooklyn.
