I am still so mad at myself for pandering so hard to Wisconsinites that I made Reagan a liberal and ineligible for faction leader 😞

The classic mistake of visiting Wisconsin in the primaries and overliberalizing, I’ll be sure to avoid that one

Liberal Republicans will run Congressman Wolfenden for House Minority Whip and endorse Short for House Minority Leader. We will also be running La Follette for Senate Majority Leader and will endorse Senator Blaine for Whip.

I would endorse the above slate

Pending other announcements, we’ll support the following slate of Democratic leadership:

Sam Rayburn for Speaker

Cordell Hull for House Majority Leader

hold off on endorsing House Whip

Huey P. Long for Senate Minority Leader

tentatively support Robert Wagner for Senate Whip

Actually, I don't think anyone can challenge Hayden for Senate Minority leader:

An incumbent cannot be challenged for their current position by their party unless they either do not meet the prerequisites of their current role, or a faction’s ideology enthusiasm drops below neutral.  In the latter case, the challenger must come from the below-neutral faction enthusiasm ideology.

Both Long (LW Pop) and Wagner (Lib) are not from the below-neutral faction's ideology.

I'm in discussions with other players, so I am temporarily rescinding my statement about not running for House Whip.

Umbrella foils my plans again. Only challengers for the Senate Minority leadership can come from Moderates and Conservatives, so @Umbrella and BlueRight. Sorry @jnewt.

Yeah, and so by extension, that also applies to Senate Whip Robert Wagner.  Which leaves the House Whip as the only open race on our side.   Speaking of which...

As we enter a new era of American politics, it's time to establish some of our young up-and-coming stars of the party.  I am announcing that Harry S Truman will run for House Minority Whip.  Truman is a man of the people, and good friends with Speaker Rayburn and Senate Minority Leader Hayden, so I'm sure he could convince them to look at your qualifications for both senate and house committee leadership positions in exchange for your support.

What is this in reference to? Which master sheet? What's the issue?

You’re supposed to guess!

Haha.  One of the master sheets (historical era maybe?) lists the minimum number of cards that should be in play for each ideology, interest, and lobby.

Some of them say 0, but we later changed the rules that the minimum is 1 (unless no faction has at least five politicians with the relevant expertise or interest).

So, all the “zeros” for card allowance for every era should be changed to “one”

Ok, I'll put it on the "to do" list

I was prepping for house committee assignments, and I noticed we have a Rep Morris Hillquit (NY-2) who has a legislative power of 0.  He probably shouldn't have been permitted to run, but since he's in the house, I assume I can't put him on a committee.  Relevant rule:

HOUSE COMMITTEE MEMBER: With the exception of the Ranking Member, this officer must be a Representative with at least 1 legislative ability.

We'll just roleplay that his socialist agenda was too much for this congress, and he's been ostracized.

He probably should have legis though considering he ran for Congress 5 times. Following Matt's suggestion and declaring him to have 1 legis.

2.2 Leaders Emerge  (PLEASE READ TO THE END)

House

As we have a new Democratic (Blue) House Majority, need nominations for Speaker, House Majority Leader, and House Minority Leader.

Currently eligible for Speaker and House Majority Leader:

@Umbrella Cordell Hull (previously House Minority Leader)

@Umbrella Sam Rayburn (prev. House Minority Whip)

Currently eligible for House Majority Whip

Cordell Hull and Sam Rayburn...but since they'll likely hold the top 2 spots it seems like this slot is open

--

The Republicans are also interesting, as the top 2 leaders (Fmr Speaker La Guardia and Maj Ldr Tilson) are no longer in Congress. So leadership is pretty open!

Currently eligible for House Minority Leader and House Minority Whip

RedRight Wallace H White Jr (prev House Maj Whip)

@Murrman104  Dewey Jackson Short (Committee Chair exp)

@ShortKing James Wolfenden (Committee Chair exp)

Senate

The Senate is now tied at 48-48, but with VP Curtis the Republicans (Red) own the Majority. However, Senate Maj Leader Hebert lost re-election and promptly retired so the leadership is wide open!

Currently eligible for Senate Majority Leader and Senate Majority Whip

@ShortKing Hiram Johnson (prev. Sen Majority Whip)

@ShortKing Robert La Follette Jr (leadership)

@ebrk85 Wesley L Jones (Committee Chair exp)

@matthewyoung123 John J Blaine (committee chair exp)

RedRight James Eli Watson (committee chair exp)

RedRight George H Moses (leadership)

@Murrman104 Arthur Vandenberg (leadership)

@Murrman104 Style Bridges (leadership)

--

The Democratic Senate Leadership did not get shuffled around but the election saw a newcomer with the traits necessary to rock the boat...

Currently eligible for Senate Minority Leader and Senate Minority Whip

@Umbrella Carl Hayden (prev Sen Min Leader)

@MrPotatoTed Robert F Wagner (prev Sen Min Whip)

@jnewt Huey P Long (leadership)

ACTION by 9pm Eastern Thursday - Name your nominees for these positions, as relevant, and let me know if you will not run for leadership.  Special flag for BLUE Party for nominees for House Majority Whip as all reps in the House will be eligible for that position.  Tagging @Largo833 as well.

Flagging CPU moves:

BlueRight nominates James Collier of MS for House Majority Whip

RedRight nominates Wallace H White Jr to serve as House Minority Whip (prev. Maj Whip)

RedRight nominates James Eli Watson to serve as Senate Majority Leader

@Murrman104 and @matthewyoung123 any nominees or endorsements for Senate leadership?
