So Bobby Layne is like Brett Favre? Was Doak Walker just impossibly amazing this season to make up for Layne?

Yeah Bobby Layne was like the Brett Favre of his time. He won but was very sloppy winning.

RB/FB League Leaders for 1950!

  • Rushing Yards: Doak Walker, Top Hats @10centjimmy
  • Rushing TDs: Steve Van Buren, Yodelers @ebrk85
  • Highest Rushing AVG: Doak Walker, Top Hats
  • Lowest Rushing AVG: Howard Sherman, Sad Clowns @Cal
  • Fewest Fumbles: Doak Walker, Top Hats
  • Most Fumbles: Jim Parmer, Knights @mark2
  • Most Receptions by RB: Doak Walker, Top Hats
  • Best Blocking FB: Jim Parmer, Knights

Doak Walker won the most positive awards for the RB/FB category. This is somewhat ahistorical as Doak Walker was usually handling so many other duties that he wouldn't have been running full-time. He would have split carries about evenly. However, that's something to save for the CPU version.

I'll do WR/TE stats next once, I have time.

Up next will be the awards. I pick the Pro Bowlers, and then you pick the winners of awards from the list of Pro Bowlers. Pro Bowlers come from peak players. If the roster still isn't filled, they come from positive award winners who weren't peak. If still not filled, then random best players based on the Pass Off and Pass Def ratings.

I was hoping to have time to process the Championship this morning, but I'll be out all day and night, so I won't get to it until tomorrow.

Here's the MVP/OPOY and the DPOY who will face each other in the 1950 NFL Championship:

1950 NFL Championship Game

@10centjimmy @OrangeP47

The odds would have been 80% chance for the Top Hats to win, but the Cardinals had a higher clutch, so the odds were reduced to 60% for the Championship game (Clutch plays a stronger role in playoffs). However, the game die roll rolled a 15, when the Cardinals needed a 60 (for a tie) or a 61-100 (to win). This suggests the Top Hats won rather convincingly. The CPU version might program some token key player stats and a quarter by quarter score.

SB MVP (or Championship MVP for us at this moment)

The SB MVP has a chance of being a co-MVP situation and/or a chance of coming form the losing team. Both instances happened once historically each. None of those cases happened this time. There's an 85% chance of the MVP coming from the offense, 14% for defense, and 1% from Special teams. It landed on offense. There's a 57% chance of the offensive player getting the MVP being a QB, and a die roll of 2 was rolled, when the QB needed a 1-57, which means it was decisively our game's MVP:

*************QB Bobby Layne, Top Hats @10centjimmy

I think its so strange that both Bobby Layne and Doak Walker went to my high school and played on the team at the same time in high school. They ended up playing on the same team historically in the NFL. They're both on the same team in our alternate history. Historically, they're also both in the Hall of Fame. You have to fast forward to QB Matthew Stafford (a SB MVP) for the next person that went to my high school to be prominent in the NFL. There have been others in the NFL, but they're obscure.

Didn't Jerry Jones' grandson play at Highland Park?

Yeah. Recently. The only pro sports guy at the school when I was there was MLB all-star P Chris Young. Same grade as me. My high school also had P Clayton Kershaw who was a teammate of Matthew Stafford. I think my HS has only produced NFL and MLB players. We also have actress/model Jayne Mansfield and failed assassin John Hinkley. Also 1 gov of TX, judges, some Nobel people, a few screenwriters. Not bad for a small high school. My class had 330 people. A lot of city high schools have larger classes.

Didn’t Clayton Kershaw go to the same high school as Stafford too?

I’m saying a lot of good things about my high school, but I do not have good memories of high school. I was miserable until college. They just weren’t very interested in being student-centric towards students that were severely ADHD or had other unique differences. They kind of just wanted to focus on their neurotypical academic high performers and athletes. Also, considering most of the school were children of millionaires or billionaires (I was not one of them, although my dad was a millionaire in the past and lost all his money under Reagan), it wasn’t fun being one of the non-economically elite children. People were made fun of not for being a nerd or freak or whatever, but for being unable to afford expensive clothes, European vacations, etc. I tended to space out a lot, so I probably missed what most people said about me, but I was definitely subject to bullying by a student body that was like 25% Trump-like kids. I was never popular until college, where I made a lot of friends, made straight As, and generally had a positive day every moment. I got to start life all over again once I left for college. No one knew who I was when I arrive for college. Whereas in High School, I had known most of those people K-12. You were kind of branded by 3rd grade. It was ludicrous. I was picked last or next to last most of the time in PE because I was one of two “poor kids” in the PE class, this despite having scored all of my team’s points the previous day at one point in flag football. 4 TDs and I sacked the opposing QB. I was good at sports. I even won a game or 21 in basketball against 12 other people and was still picked last. The weird thing is no one disliked me. It was just unpopular to pick me. Unlike the way I am today, I was a pretty quiet kid that kept to himself. I didn’t argue. I didn’t get angry. I pretty much just read and daydreamed at school. I sat primarily with the other uncool kids. That probably didn’t help matters, but I’d prefer their company any day. I did have a lot of friends that were kind of in a gray area. They were kind of nerdy (“uncool”) but they avoided bullying because their parents had money. I should note that I looked different in high school  freshman year I was 5’5” with huge feet (shaped like the letter L ), lots of acne, and wore clothes from target. Senior year I was 6’2” with a lot of acne and target clothes. I grew to 6’4” after high school and the acne went away and I stared buying my own clothes, mainly from Vintage stores. High school is just a brutal place to be for marginalized people. Anyway, a tangent, but I just wanted to say that while I’m boosting my high school in reference to these sports figures, it was a terrible high school for many people

The 1951 NFL Season!!!!

Rezi @OrangeP47 @ebrk85 @matthewyoung123 @jvikings1 @ConservativeElector2 @mark2 @Bloot911 @Hestia @10centjimmy @Willthescout7 @Cal @vcczar @jnewt

Coach Replacements:

Teams that missed the playoffs. That is, everyone but the Top Hats and Cardinals can attempt to replace their coach.

You all have 24 hours to let me know if you want to replace your coach or not. You won't be able to see the coach stats of new coaches until you make the exchance. I'm going to add any new/old coaches to the free agent tab.
