Whip up some support with Thomas Jefferson please.

Unbelievable -- it's a 6!.  Public support falls to neutral (From Conservative +2 to 0).

If it's still at neutral during the next election, the advantage will go the Presidential candidate who has the most personal popularity.  (Side note: All candidates are limited to winning two Presidential elections, so Washington will be forced to retire at the end of his upcoming term).

Anything else?

Rolling them bones...it's a one.  @Magnus Rex Secretary of State Benjamin Franklin finally succumbs to gout at the age of 86.  His two popularity points are converted into two victory points.  Magnus loses Benjamin's 3 congressional votes.

With Franklin dead, @Magnus Rex Patrick Henry is seen as Jefferson's heir apparent to become Liberal Party Leader.  (Lots of people are tied behind Jefferson, but Henry wins for now thanks to his advanced age).

Anything else, @themiddlepolitical?

John Adams will make a speech!

Adams tries to give a moving eulogy for the late Benjamin Franklin.

Unfortunately, the former Vice President forgets his notes and also his shoes.  He rolls a one.

You could theoretically spend 5 IP to buy the popularity point, but you only have 1 IP left.  Any other actions?

I'd like to fund a Liberal Party newspaper.

Done!  You can see it on the main page, if you scroll down a bit on the right.  I've placed an L (for liberal) to indicate it.

After the next Presidential election, whoever happens to be liberal party leader (currently @Pringles) will have the option to either cash it out (deleting it in exchange for +1 Liberal public support) or letting it ride.  If they leave it in place, players with at least one liberal statesman can invest 2 IP to promote it to the next level.  It can be promoted a maximum of two times.  If it reaches it's max level, it will automatically generate +2 Liberal Public Support after each of the next two elections, and then +1 Liberal Public Support after the third election, until it finally fades away.

Anything else?

Yes. I'd like to play the Dolly Todd card on James Madison (History repeats even in fiction :P), and I'd also like to play my Hand of Time card.

Wait a second... @themiddlepolitical didn't have a Hand of Time card!  What shenanigans!  @Magnus Rex Benjamin Franklin is resurrected!  The rumors of his death were greatly exaggerated!

@WVProgressive "does" have a Hand of Time card, though. And it would have been super convenient of his die roll killed off Franklin anyway...

But it didn't.

Instead, it rolled a 4.

And that's President George Washington.

"Martha.  Martha.  There's work to do."
- The last words of President George Washington, 1732 - 1792.

With the untimely death of President Washington, our newly elected Vice President John Jay ascends to the Presidency!

Congrats, @ConservativeElector2!  Because you inherited the office, you can complete all four years of Washington's term plus another 8 for yourself (if you win the elections), potentially serving for up to twelve years!

@Magnus Rex regains Franklin with his 2 popularity points, but loses Washington.  Washington's 8 popularity points are converted to victory points.  Magnus  loses the 10 congressional votes and Washington's 3 personal IP.

@ConservativeElector2 becomes President.  There is no VP.

The wedding of Representative James Madison to the beautiful Dolley Madison is a joyous affair -- until the tragic explanation for President Washington's unexplained absence suddenly reaches the party.

Nonetheless, James Madison gets a hot new bride and the 1 Popularity that she brings to the table.
